Field Hockey Alumna Lara Taylor Earns Compass Award

BOSTON - Field hockey alumna and fifth-year student Lara Taylor was honored with a Compass Award in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements and meaningful impact on the community.

The Compass Awards, Northeastern's premier student awards program, honor outstanding members of the senior class who have demonstrated a strong commitment to key values throughout their time on campus: leadership, volunteerism, academic integrity, and dedication to the university. Students who embody these qualities show clear potential for future leadership as alumni. Each year, nine Compass Awards are presented, representing all eight undergraduate colleges along with one award for Alumni Relations.

Lara, a graduating Art major with a concentration in Visual Studies, has earned multiple academic honors, including Dean's List recognition, CAA Academic Scholar of Distinction (Fall 2024), and three years on the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, while also excelling athletically.

Through her co-ops and volunteer work, she made a strong impact on the Northeastern community, leading social media strategy, creating marketing materials, and supporting local organizations. She also gained international experience in Norwich, UK, contributing to design and marketing projects.

Lara is especially proud of her Honors in the Discipline project, a video installation exploring climate change, which helped shape her artistic identity. After graduation, she will pursue a master's in Environment, Culture and Society at the University of Edinburgh.
