Huskies Set For Saturday With Merrimack

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team is set for a single home game this Saturday, Jan. 25 as they host the Merrimack Warriors at Matthews Arena. This weekend's contest will mark the second matchup this season between the two programs and the 138th meeting overall.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. WHERE THERE'S A WILL(IAMS), THERE'S A WAY: Junior Jack Williams lead the way with four points throughout the series from three goals and one assist, including the game winner in both contests. The outing marked his third four-point weekend of the season. The Maine native currently leads the Huskies in goals (12), assists (16) and points (28). Among all skaters in the NCAA, Williams 28 points rank among the top-ten while his 12 goals are tied for 19th, along with sophomore Dylan Hryckowian.
  2. NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: For the second time this season, freshman Joe Connor came out of the weekend with two points (2a) under his belt, including a helper on Williams' overtime winner in game one. So far this season, the Tampa Bay draft pick has collected seven points from three goals and four assists. Connor's last two-point weekend came against No. 11 Providence when he scored two goals in two games and added the game-winning shootout tally. With his goal in game one against the Friars, the New Hampshire native became only the fourth rookie in the last decade to score his first collegiate goal in first six career games, joining Justin Hryckowian (2021-22), Ty Jackson (2020-21) and Jérémy Davies (2016-17).
  3. BLUELINE GROUP: Northeastern's defensive core has made its presence known, tallying five points through the past three games for the Huskies. Junior Vinny Borgesi leads with one goal and one assist in back-to-back outings on the road at UMass and Vermont. Three more blueliners have each tallied one point through the Huskies three consecutive victories, including graduate student Jake Boltmann (1g), junior Jackson Dorrington (1a) and Joaquim Lemay (1a).
