AMESBURY, Mass.— Juniors Vinny Borgesi and Cam Lund of the Northeastern men's hockey team earned Hockey East monthly honors for December as announced on Friday. Borgesi claimed Army ROTC Defender of the Month honors, and Lund earned Hockey East Player of the Month accolades. The duo guided Northeastern to a 3-3-3 record in December.
Borgesi was named Defender of the Month for the first time in his career. He posted two goals and six helpers for eight points in six games. His point and assist totals led all defensemen in the NCAA and was third among all skaters. Borgesi recorded two multi-point outings, a game-winning assist and earned Defender of the Week honors on Dec. 9. Additionally, the Pennsylvania native collected 17 shots, 10 faceoff wins, five blocks and a plus-four rating.
For the first time in his career, Lund earned Hockey East Player of the Month accolades. His nine points in the month of December ranked second in the entire nation from four goals and five assists. In just six games, the San Jose draft pick posted four multi-point outings and two game-winning tallies. Lund also added 24 faceoff wins and a plus-four rating.
Borgesi, Lund and the Huskies are next in action against Quinnipiac on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 4:00 p.m. in M&T Bank Arena.
