Northeastern Heads To North Andover To Face Merrimack

BOSTON -- The Northeastern women's basketball team (1-2, 0-0 CAA) starts a two-game road stint, traveling to North Andover to take on Merrimack (1-2, 0-0 MAAC) for a weekend contest on Saturday, November 15 at 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. LAST TIME OUT: The Huskies dropped a hard-fought 57-61 decision to Boston University at the Cabot Center on Tuesday night, but saw strong performances from several key players. Junior guard Yirsy Quéliz posted a season-high 16 points to lead all Huskies, shooting 6-of-12 from the field and knocking down four three-pointers. Sophomore guard Camryn Collins tied her season-high with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including three triples. Sophomore forward Taylor Holohan recorded a career-high 11 points while shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Holohan also added five rebounds and three steals in the contest.
  2. SCOUTING MERRIMACK: Northeastern holds a 2-0 all-time advantage over the Warriors, with both meetings coming in recent seasons. The Huskies claimed a 75-47 victory at Hammel Court in North Andover during the 2022-23 season, marking the most recent matchup between the two programs. Merrimack enters Saturday's contest with a 1-2 record after wrapping up a two-game road trip that saw losses to Rhode Island and High Point. The Warriors are 1-0 at home this season, defeating UMass Boston in their season opener.
  3. DOMINATING THE GLASS: The Huskies have dominated the rebounding margin this season, averaging 40.7 rebounds per game while holding opponents to 34.0 boards per contest. That +6.7 rebounding margin has been crucial, as Northeastern has pulled down 48 offensive rebounds compared to just 27 for opponents, leading to valuable second-chance opportunities. Taylor Holohan (20), Nariyah Simmons (18), and Alyssa Staten (16) lead the way as the top three rebounders, with Simmons (9) and Staten (6) leading the way in offensive boards.

Following Saturday's game at Merrimack, the Huskies will continue their road swing at Providence on Tuesday, November 18. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. on ESPN+.Following the Providence contest, the Huskies will return home to the Cabot Center on Saturday, November 22nd against Sacred Heart.
