BOSTON – Vermont (4-0) shot 66% in the second half and used a 15-0 run to pull away from the Northeastern men's basketball team (2-2) on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena, 85-74.

A crowd of 3335 saw the Huskies in their final game at Matthews Arena, the nation's old college basketball arena, the largest home crowd since Dec. 19, 2015 against No. 1 Michigan State.

Youri Fritz paced Northeastern with 16 points, including 8-of-11 shooting from the free-throw line.
Luca Soroa Schaller scored 15 points with six assists in his first start of the season, while
William Kermoury added 12 points to join him in double-figures. As a team, Northeastern shot 46% (26-of-56) overall and 6-of-15 from three.

Gus Yalden led Vermont with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, adding five rebounds and five assists. Sean Blake contributed 16 points while shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range. TJ Hurley added 14 points, and TJ Long chipped in 12 points with four assists for a Catamount club that shot 55% from the field and 57% percent from three-point range,

Northeastern jumped out to an early lead thanks to a 12-3 run and held a 33-30 advantage at halftime after a steal and score from Kermoury at the buzzer. The Huskies shot 50% as a team through 20 minutes, led by seven points from
JB Frankel.

The Catamounts took control with a decisive run midway through the second half, leading by as many as 16 late in the game. Vermont was 7-of-11 (63.6%) from distance in the second half, including a string of six straight makes over six minutes midway through the half.

Northeastern put the press on late in regulation, forcing a pair of turnovers to cut the deficit to single digits with less than two minutes to play before the Catamounts were able to break it and put the game away.

The Huskies will be back in action next week when Northeastern travels to Princeton for a 7 p.m. tip-off Thursday night.
