Huskies Hit The Road To Battle Princeton, Duquesne This Weekend

BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team heads back on the road for two games this weekend, beginning on Thursday night at Princeton (7 p.m. on ESPN+). The Huskies will then travel to Akron, Ohio for a neutral site contest against Duquesne on Saturday (4 p.m.) for the Morgan & Morgan Classic at Lebron James Arena at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THIS WEEKEND'S OPPONENTS

The Huskies and Princeton are meeting for the fourth straight season, and ninth time overall. The Tigers leads the series, 5-3, with Northeastern in search of their first win in the series since 2012. In last year's meeting at Matthews Arena, William Kermoury had a career-high 20 points in a game that saw five ties and 14 lead changes before Princeton got a bucket with less than five seconds remaining to escape with the 79-76 victory.

Northeastern and Duquesne, meanwhile, will meet for just the fourth time with NU holding a 2-1 edge in the series. The teams last met during the 2021-22 season at the Paradise James in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the Huskies shot 60% as a team en route to a 71-55 victory.

2. ROAD DOGS
The Huskies are 2-0 on the road, averaging 72.0ppg and shooting 42% as a team. Xander Alarie is averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds per game away from home, while Youri Fritz is close behind with 17 ppg and 8.5 rpg.

A win on Thursday would give the Huskies a 3-0 start in true road games for the first time since the 1981-82 season.

3. SOROA SCHALLER STEPS UP
Luca Soroa Schaller was inserted into the starting lineup in place of LA Pratt last weekend, and responded with a career day against Vermont. The sophomore set or tied career bests in points (15), field goals (five), three-point field goals (two), free throws (three), assists (six), blocks (one) and minutes (33).

He is fifth in the CAA in assist/turnover ratio (3.25) and sixth in assists/game (4.3).
