Huskies Take Second At Terrier Invitational

BOSTON – Northeastern's swim and dive team (3-1) finished in second place at the 19th Terrier Invitational, a three-day meet from Friday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 23, hosted by Boston University. The Huskies claimed victory in the 200 Free Relay behind the quartet of Mary Nordmann, Alex Fuller, Kotoko Blair and May Bradburn, while Anna Verlander captured first place in the 100 Back. Ultimately, Boston University claimed the title, with Northeastern, Bryant, UMass, Fairfield and Boston College rounding out the field.
 
FRIDAY
  • In the first event of the finals, Mary Nordmann, Alex Fuller, Kotoko Blair and May Bradburn won the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:31.99, nearly two seconds ahead of second-place Boston University (1:32.10).
  • Freshman Abigail Gowern placed second in the 500 Freestyle in 4:55.24, while freshman Siena Griffiths finished fifth (4:57.90). 
  • Bradburn claimed second place in the 50 Freestyle in 23.00, touching the wall just .10 of a second behind Boston University's Molly Barber (22.90). Coming in closely behind Bradburn was Fuller finishing third (23.19), Nordmann taking fourth (23.21), and Blair placing eighth (23.66).
  • The 400 Medley Relay team of Sophie Bromley, Elisabeth Bendall, Fuller and Bradburn finished second with a time of 3:43.08.
 
SATURDAY
  • Delaney Alonso, Elisabeth Bendall, Alex Fuller and May Bradburn finished second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.45, just 0.40 seconds behind first-place Boston University (1:41.05).
  • A trifecta of Huskies came in third, fourth and fifth in the 100 Butterfly, starting with Bradburn (54.33), followed by Fuller (54.58) and then Nordmann (55.00). Northeastern's Delaney Alonso championed the C-Final with a time of 57.50.
  • In the 21st event of the competition, freshman Marea Li took first place in the B-Final, touching the wall at 1:05.46.
  • Two huskies dominated the 100 Back, Anna Verlander was victorious with 54.93, while Alonso claimed a close second at 55.03. 
  • The 800 Freestyle Relay team of Abigail Gowern, Griffiths, Nordmann and Bradburn finished second with a time of 7:28.42, just 0.60 seconds behind first-place Boston University (7:27.82).
  • In the diving competition, senior Anelise Kim led the Huskies with a seventh-place finish in the 3-meter dive, recording a score of 236.75 points.
 
SUNDAY
  • The Huskies began the race with a solid second place finish by Abigail Gowern in the 1650 Free, touching the wall at 16:46.77. The next Husky to finish was Siena Griffiths, taking eighth place with a 17:19.10 time. 
  • In the 100 Free, Alex Fuller took second place by just .24. Fuller finished the race with a time of 50.62.
  • Finally, in the 39th event of the meet, the Northeastern relay team of Fuller, Nordmann, Blair and Bradburn took a third-place podium finish in the 400 Free Relay. The squad finished the race in 3:24.34.
 
The Huskies continue their season on Saturday, Dec. 6 at noon when they host New Hampshire at Barletta Natatorium.
