BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior
Lawton Zacher of the No. 14 Northeastern men's hockey team has been selected as the Hockey Commissioner's Association Goalie of the Month for October, marking his first national accolade from the HCA.
Zacher anchored the No. 14 Huskies to a 5-1-0 overall record during the month, including an unblemished 3-0-0 stretch in league play. He closed October with a .952 save percentage—tops among all goaltenders who started at least four games and eighth-best nationally—and a 1.51 goals against average, both positioning him among the NCAA's elite performers.
Across six appearances, the New York native turned aside 178 shots, including a season-high 40 saves in Northeastern's road win over then-No. 11/10 Boston College. He added a pair of shutouts, tying for the national lead, and surrendered only nine goals throughout the month. His five victories tied for the sixth-most in the country, and within Hockey East action he paced all league netminders in wins (3), goals against average (1.00) and save percentage (.970).
Standing 6-2, Zacher enters November riding a four-game winning streak—tied for the third-longest active run in Division I and the only one composed entirely of wins over ranked opponents.
The Huskies and Zacher resume play during Homecoming Weekend, hosting Stonehill for a two-game series at Matthews Arena on Friday (Nov. 7) and Saturday (Nov. 8).
