NU Opens Hockey East Tournament Against Merrimack

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team kicks off the 2025 Hockey East Tournament this Wednesday (March 12) with Merrimack in the opening round games. The game begins at 7:00 p.m. on NESN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. FOR THR FOURTH TIME: The two programs, who have already played three this season, will be playing their 131st all-time matchup this Wednesday. Northeastern has won seven of the last ten games, outscoring Merrimack 27-18. Their most recent matchup was Thurs., March 6 at Lawler Rink where the Huskies' skated away victorious, 2-1, led by goals from junior Cam Lund and sophomore Dylan Hryckowian.
  2. THE ROOKIES: In their debut collegiate season, six freshman recorded their first career points in the Northeastern sweater. Of those six, four tallied their first career goals. Leading the way for the 2024-25 incoming class is forward Joe Connor who has recorded 15 points from six goals and nine assists. The Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick has played in all 34 games for the Huskies, adding 91 shots and 17 blocks to his resume. Freshman Quentin Sigurdson has also seen time between the pipes, standing in net in six games this season. The 6-2 netminder earned his first conference honor after he recorded his first career shutout, 2-0, to upset No. 13 UMass Lowell with 34 saves in his first collegiate start, in addition to recording his first collegiate point with an assist on the Huskies' game-winning goal
  3. BEST OF THE BEST: The topline of junior Cam Lund and sophomore Dylan Hryckowian centered by junior Jack Williams has been the core of the Northeastern's offense this season. The trio has totaled a combined 46 goals and 60 assists for 106 points this season. Serving as NU's top scorers, they fall among the top-15 in the country against each NCAA team's top scorers, ranking T-7th in goals, 11th in points and T-14th in assists. Individually, each forward has eclipsed a career high in varying categories. Williams leads the team a career-high 38 points and 23 assists, while adding 15 goals. Lund's career-high 16 goals leads all NU skaters as he adds 19 assists and a career-high 35 points. Lastly, Hryckowian rounds out the topline with 33 points this season from 18 assists and a career-high 15 goals.
