Huskies Head To TD Garden For Semifinals Against Maine

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team returns to TD Garden for the third time this season as they face the Maine Black Bears in the Hockey East Semifinals on Thursday, March 20 at 7:35 p.m. This marks the fourth time the two programs will face off this season.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. LAST TIME OUT: In Northeastern's most recent outing, the Huskies upset No. 1 Boston College, 3-1, in the Hockey East quarterfinals. In a span of 2:09 in the second period, junior Cam Lund and freshman Joe Connor tallied back-to-back goals. After BC tacked on a goal late in the third, senior Ryan McGuire added a shorthanded, empty net goal with 3.1 seconds remaining. McGuire led the team with two points with an added assist on Connor's goal.
  2. WITHIN THE DECADE: Following their win over BC in the quarterfinals, Northeastern became the first-ever nine-seed to advance to the semifinals in Hockey East history. In the last decade, NU has been to the semifinal round four times. Of those four, the Huskies won the Hockey East Tournament title in 2016 after defeating fourth-seeded UMass Lowell, 3-2, and most recently in 2019 with a 3-2 win over seventh-seeded Boston College.
  3. HUNTING BLACK BEARS: Thursday's game with the Maine Black Bears will mark the 140th matchup overall between the two programs. In the last ten contests, Northeastern holds a 13-5-2 advantage over Maine and has outscored the Black Bears, 64-45. Junior Cam Lund leads all Huskies in career points against Maine with seven from three goals and four assists. Junior Jack Williams boasts six points (1g, 5a), while junior Vinny Borgesi has collected five points (1g, 4a) and sophomore Dylan Hryckowian has tallied four points (1g, 3a).
