Women's Rowing Brings Home Council Cup In Final Home Race

BOSTON — The Huskies raced strong on Saturday morning as their six boats competed against Boston University and No. 18 Columbia. For the second-straight year, the Northeastern women's rowing team brought home the Council Cup with their victory over BU.
  • The varsity eight, stroked by Heather Taylor, came in second place behind Columbia with a time of 6:44.3, but edged Boston University by 1.4 seconds to keep the Council Cup at Henderson Boathouse.
  • Northeastern's second varsity eight, stroked by Victoria Thibeault, also finished in second with a time of 6:49.8 to beat the Terriers by over 10.7 seconds.
  • The varsity four and second varsity four crossed the line in third place and fourth place, respectively. In the coxswain seat, Catherine Ingram helped the varsity four finish with a time of 7:44.8, while the second varsity four clocked a time of 4:29.6 with Cailin Cronin in the coxswain seat.
  • Both the third varsity eight and fourth varsity eight competed in the final race of the day. The third varsity eight, stroked by Claudia Decker, crossed the finish in line with a time of 7:09.5 to place second, and the fourth varsity eight, stroked by Sarah Kaputa, finished with a time of 7:24.5 to finish fourth.
Northeastern is back on the water next weekend as they compete at the Lake Morey Regatta in Fairlee, Vt. on Saturday, April 19.
