No. 19 Huskies Set For 2025 CAA Tournament

BOSTON – The No. 19 Northeastern University baseball team (45-9) has earned the #1 seed in the 2025 CAA Tournament and plays its first game this Thursday, May 22nd at 3 p.m. at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The Huskies will face the lowest remaining seeded winner from Wednesday's games, between #4 College of Charleston, #5 William & Mary, and #6 Elon. All games of the 2025 CAA Baseball Championship will stream on FloCollege. With Wednesday's early game result, Northeastern's potential opponents are narrowed down to either Charleston or Elon.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. BEEN HERE BEFORE
  • The Huskies earned the #1 seed in the CAA tournament for the third time in the program's history in the conference, making their 12th straight appearance to the tournament, including all 11 years of the Mike Glavine era (2015-present, except for 2020, where there was no tournament). The Huskies' most previous tournament as the #1 seed resulted in their first-ever CAA Tournament Championship, with a 4-2 record in the 2021 tourney. The Huskies fell to #2 seed UNCW in the semifinals, but rebounded to win three straight against #3 Charleston, and back to back wins against the #2 Seahawks in the Championship games at UNCW's home field of Brooks Field. Northeastern holds a 24-24 overall record in the tourney, and an 8-5 record as the one-seed.

  1. ALL-CONFERENCE HUSKIES
  • Tuesday's conference announcement of 2025 CAA Regular Season Awards marked another new program-best for Northeastern, with six Huskies earning First Team honors, highlighted by Co-Player of the Year Harrison Feinberg. Feinberg's award marks the second straight year where the Huskies have claimed the Co-Player of the Year mantle, and holds the streak of three straight seasons with at least one Husky winning a major CAA award. Feinberg was followed by fellow outfielder Cam Maldonado, shortstop Jack Goodman, and pitchers Aiven Cabral, Will Jones, and Charlie Walker on the First Team. Fellow hurler Jordan Gottesman earned Second Team honors, with Carmelo Musacchia and Brett Dunham earning Honorable Mention status. Skipper Mike Glavine earned his fifth CAA Coach of the Year nod, his third in the last five seasons.

  1. ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE
  • Northeastern's potential second round opponents feature a pair of 2025 regular season opponents and a perennial CAA Tournament foe, with the Huskies owning the regular season series against Charleston (3-0) and William & Mary (3-0), while not having faced Elon since the 2024 regular season. The last time the CAA Tournament took place at Patriots Point, the Huskies battled #2 Elon twice, emerging victorious with a close 2-1 victory in the winner's bracket, and a 14-8 slugfest in the loser's bracket. The Huskies are 6-0 all-time against Charleston in the CAA Tournament, but have yet to face the Cougars on their home field in the tourney. The William & Mary Tribe have been a formidable tournament foe, with an even 3-3 split against the Huskies in tournament play.
