Vinny Borgesi has been named the 92
nd captain in Northeastern men's hockey program history, while fellow senior
Joaquim Lemay and juniors
Dylan Hryckowian and
Andy Moore will serve as assistant captains.
"It's an absolute honor and a dream come true to be named captain for next year," said Borgesi. "Northeastern is such a special place to me and I'm excited to lead this group. With this being our final season at Matthews Arena, we're determined to make it a memorable one."
Borgesi comes back for the 2025-26 season as one of Northeastern's top defenseman. The native of Philadelphia, Pa. led all NU blueliners last season with 22 points from five goals and 17 assists. He added five multiple-point nights and a career-high 51 blocks, including a season-high four on two occasions. Borgesi led all NCAA skaters in time on ice during the 2024-25 slate, playing 28:04 minutes per game.
In his first season with the Huskies, Lemay recorded three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 30 games played. The 6-0 defenseman held a five-game point streak from Feb. 21-March 6, tallying two goals and four assists for a 1.2 points per game. Lemay finished the year with 49 blocks, fourth-best mark on the team, and 58 shots on goal. The Quebec native ranked 13
th in the country with a time on ice of 24:48.
Hryckowian appeared in 36 games for Northeastern, concluding the 2024-25 stint with a career-high 36 points from 19 assists, both the third-best mark on the team, and a career-high 17 goals, the second-best mark for NU. The Quebec native was one of three Huskies to break the 30-point threshold. Hryckowian recorded ten multi-point games, a team-high four game-winning goals (T-21
st in the NCAA) and three power-play goals.
Moore, a native of Cumberland, Maine, appeared in 36 games for the Huskies last season. He tallied career-highs in points (4), assists (3) and goals (1). The 5-11 forward scored his first career goal to give Northeastern the lead over No. 4 Maine in the Hockey East semifinals at TD Garden. Moore added 27 shots on goal, nine blocked shots and 114 faceoff wins, including a career-high nine on the road against UMass.
