Northeastern Volleyball Set To Open 2025 Season At Holly Young Invitational

BOSTON - The Northeastern volleyball team is set to open the 2025 season at the Holly Young Invitational, hosted by the University of New Hampshire, on Friday, August 29 through Saturday, August 30. The Huskies are slated to face Saint Peter's at 2 p.m. Friday, followed by a pair of matches on Saturday. Northeastern will face Holy Cross at 10 a.m. Saturday and then the host, New Hampshire, at 7 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. 2025 CAPTAINS - Ahead of the season, senior Ellie Williams, senior Nadia Koanui, and junior Kaylin Daniels were announced as captains for the Huskies. Williams and Koanui each play at libero for Northeastern while Daniels is a middle blocker.
2. FRESH FACES - First-year head coach Brendan McGourn has nine newcomers on the roster for the 2025 season, including eight freshmen and one graduate transfer. Aven Crosby (Libero), Sofia King (Setter), Reagan Nisbet (Libero), Erikah Buff (Middle), Elle Lucas (Opposite), Emma Rowell (Setter / Opposite), Sydney Mayfield (Opposite), and Valentina Meirelles (Outside) will all be making their collegiate debuts while graduate student Svenja Rodenbüsch (Outside) will be finishing her career in red and black.
3. TOURNAMENT OPPONENTS - This will be the first meeting between the Huskies and the Peacocks of Saint Peter's. Saint Peter's posted an overall record of 6-19 last season with a conference record of 4-14. The Huskies have not lost a match against Holy Cross since the 1992 season. The teams last faced off against each other in 2012, where Northeastern completed a clean sweep of the Crusaders. Northeastern last faced off against New Hampshire in the 2019 season, where the two teams battled through five sets with the Wildcats finishing on top.

After the trip to New Hampshire, the Huskies will be on the road at the Columbia Invitational in New York, N.Y. from Friday, September 5 through Saturday September 6.
