Women's Cross Country Opens Season At Suffolk Short Course Classic

BOSTON — The Northeastern women's cross country team is set to open its 2025 season Saturday, Aug. 30 at Highland Park in Attleboro for the Suffolk Short Course Classic. The Classic features a 3K race for the women beginning at 10 a.m. Northeastern is one out of 17 teams competing in the race.

COURSE/PARKING DETAILS:
The meet will charge $10 per person and children 10 and under are free. Teams and spectators can park at 104 Mechanic Street behind the gold club house. Over flow parking is available at Attleboro High School in lot D. Lot D is accessible from the Bushee Street entrance and is the first lot on the right.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

1. TOP DOGS ARE BACK — Last season, the women closed out the CAA season with a bang as they placed first in the CAA Championship. Not only did they excel in the post-season, but they placed in the top five in all their regular season meets.

2. NEW PUPS — The Huskies welcome four new runners to the team this season: Genevieve Cowan, Emersyn DePonte, Kirsten Melnik, and Lola Satre-Morales. These four newbies look to make a positive impact on the 2025 season.

3. BLAST FROM THE PAST — The last time the Huskies competed in the Suffolk Short Course Classic was in 2023, where the team took second place. Now a Junior, but then Freshman Keira Gamily took third place in her debut race. Gamily looks to be a leader for the Huskies as they begin the season.
