Northeastern Earns Multiple Event Wins At The Beantown Challenge Invitational

BOSTON – The Northeastern track and field team competed at the Beantown Challenge Invitational hosted by Harvard. The Huskies saw many first places: senior Leila Curtis in the shot put, freshman Iolo Grant in the 60m hurdles, freshman James Ciaccio in the 500m, freshman Brady Danyluk in the 1000m final, sophomore Nico Boyle in the 3000m and junior Camryn Cole in the high jump.

Women
  • Senior Liangie Calderon took third place in the weight throw, throwing a 17.26.
  • In the 60m hurdles, junior Camryn Cole took second place, with sophomore Jaice Dorsey following in sixth place. Cole earned a time of 8.50 and Dorsey ran an 8.72.
  • Northeastern junior Savannah Blair took fourth in the 60m, crossing the finish line at 7.56. Junior Victoria Knight finished in sixth place, with a time of 7.61. 
  • Senior Leila Curtis championed the shot put, scoring a 15.17. 
  • In the 60m, junior Savannah Blair took fourth place, running a 7.56 race.
  • Junior Waverly Hassman claimed a podium second place in the 500m. Hassman crossed the finish line at 1:13.43 with teammate freshman Lola Satre Morales close behind in fourth place and a 1:14.82 time. 
  • Junior Camryn Cole leapt to victory in the women's high jump at 1.83m.
 
Men
  • Freshman Logan Alfandari placed fifth in the weight throw, with a score of 17.68.
  • In the 60m hurdles, freshman Iolo Grant championed the race with a time of 7.89.
  • Northeastern freshman James Ciaccio was victorious in the 500m, crossing the finish line at 1:02.82. Sophomore teammate Ajay Raina was close behind in fourth place, running a 1:04.37 race.
  • In the 1000m final, freshman Brady Danyluk earned a first place finish. Danyluk finished the race with a time of 2:25.10.
  • Northeastern men dominated the podium in the 3000m.  Sophomore Nico Boyle took first place finishing in 8:12.87, with junior Ryan Sarney just 9/100s of a second behind in second place at 8:12.96, and graduate student Ryan Slaney taking third with a time of 8:13.23.
  • Northeastern men earned third place in the 4x440 yard relay.  Sophomore Jacob Redman, freshman Brady Danyluk, freshman James Ciaccio, and sophomore Ajay Raina finished in 3:21.23.
 
The Huskies will compete next Saturday, Jan. 24 in the BU Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational at the BU Track and Tennis Center.
