Huskies Face Warriors In Midweek Series

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team travels to Lawler Arena for a two-game series against Merrimack on Thursday, Jan. 22 and Friday, Jan. 23, with both contests scheduled for 7 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. WAGING WAR(RIORS)The Huskies hold a commanding 73-46-12 all-time advantage over the Warriors. NU has dominated the recent rivalry, posting a 15-4-1 record over the last 20 meetings while outscoring Merrimack 68-34 during that stretch. Junior Dylan Hryckowian leads all active Huskies with 12 career points (3g, 9a) against the Warriors, followed by senior Vinny Borgesi with seven points (2g, 5a).
  2. A ROOKIE CAMPAIGN FOR THE AGES: Freshman Jacob Mathieu has ignited his collegiate career with 22 points across 21 games—the second-highest total on the Huskies roster—on six goals and a team-leading 16 assists. Mathieu is the first Northeastern freshman to reach the 20-point mark since his current linemate Dylan Hryckowian in 2023-24 (34 points—7g, 27a).
  3. SWEEP VICTORYNortheastern enters the week riding momentum from a weekend sweep of Hockey East opponent New Hampshire, blanking the Wildcats 4-0 on the road Friday before closing out the series with a 5-2 victory Saturday. Six Huskies recorded multi-point weekends, paced by assistant captain Dylan Hryckowian's four-point effort (2g, 2a) across the two games. Sophomore Griffin Erdman matched Hryckowian's goal total while adding an assist for his first career multi-goal weekend, while freshman Jacob Mathieu contributed three points (1g, 2a).
