BOSTON — The Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams are set for more local competition as they travel to Boston University. The Huskies will compete at the BU Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24, beginning at 11 a.m. at the BU Track and Tennis Center. The meet will be available to stream on FloCollege, and tickets can be purchased through the link on the schedule.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. A LOT OF ALL-TIMERS — Several new marks were added to Northeastern's All-Time Performance list following last weekend's competition. On the track, Anaya Jones ran the 300m to move into 10th all-time. Waverly Hassman claimed second all-time in the 500m, while Lola Satre Morales earned eighth in the same event. Cailey Freeze recorded the fourth-best time in program history in the 600m, and Jaice Dorsey moved into 10th all-time in the 60m hurdles. On the men's side, Raymond Felton III earned a 10th-place all-time ranking in the 60m, James Ciaccio climbed to third all-time in the 500m, and Iolo Grant posted the second-fastest 60m in program history. In the field events, Camryn Cole highlighted the weekend by earning fourth all-time in the 60m hurdles, breaking the school record in the high jump, and being named CAA Field Athlete of the Week.
2. LAST YEAR REWIND — Last year at the Scarlet & White Invitational, three school records were broken, two of which will be contested again this year. Junior Savannah Blair won the 200m in a record-setting 23.83, the second school record of the season. Junior Camryn Cole capped the day by winning the high jump with a school-record mark of 1.80m, which ranks 28th nationally.
3. CLIMBING THE RANKS — According to TFRRS, three Northeastern athletes currently rank among the top 50 NCAA Division I indoor competitors in their events this season. Senior Leila Curtis sits 47th in the shot put with a mark of 15.24m, while junior Camryn Cole holds a seventh-place ranking in the high jump following a school-record leap of 1.83m. Freshman Iolo Grant has impressed early, ranking 28th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.82.
The team looks to compete next at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic on February 30 and 31.
