NU Hosts Drexel Sunday

BOSTON -- The Northeastern women's basketball team (6-12, 2-6 CAA) returns home to Cabot Center to host Drexel (12-7, 5-3 CAA) on Sunday, February 1 at 1 p.m. for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The game will be broadcast on NESN, and will stream on FloCollege.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1. LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore guard Camryn Collins scored a team-high 14 points and freshman Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki chipped in with 10 points as the Huskies fell to Monmouth 65-56 at OceanFirst Bank Center on Wednesday morning. Justice Tramble added 10 points while Yirsy Quéliz contributed nine points, four rebounds, and two assists. Northeastern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 36-20 at halftime before outscoring the Hawks 36-29 in the second half. Beaudion-Foliaki's 10 points came on a perfect 6-for-6 performance from the free throw line, setting new career-highs in both free throws made and attempted. The Huskies shot 92.3% from the charity stripe in the second half and cut the deficit to eight points on multiple occasions in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback.

2. SCOUTING DREXEL: Northeastern trails the all-time series against Drexel, with the Dragons winning the last three meetings including a 53-47 decision in Boston last January. The two programs famously played an NCAA Division I record five-overtime contest on February 22, 2007, with Drexel winning 98-90 in Philadelphia. Head coach Amy Mallon is in her sixth season at the helm and has led the Dragons to two CAA tournament championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances (2021, 2024). Graduate guard Amaris Baker, a Cardinal O'Hara product, leads the CAA in scoring and is a two-time First Team All-CAA selection. Junior forward Deja Evans was named CAA Player of the Week on January 26 after averaging a double-double across victories over Stony Brook and Towson, while freshman guard Molly Rullo scored a career-high 16 points against Towson. Drexel visited Monmouth on Friday before traveling to Boston on Sunday, grabbing a road win over the Hawks, 56-53.

3. CLUTCH FROM THE LINE: The Huskies have shown a knack for clutch free throw shooting in recent games, converting at an elite rate when the game is on the line. Northeastern shot 92.3% from the charity stripe in the second half against Monmouth, and in their previous game at Hofstra, the Huskies converted 21-of-24 attempts (87.5%) overall and a blistering 16-of-17 (94.1%) in the fourth quarter to seal a 62-60 victory. The clutch shooting has been a team effort, with Justice Tramble going 7-of-8 from the line against Hofstra, Morgan Matthews finishing 5-for-5, and Beaudion-Foliaki going 6-for-6 against Monmouth.
