Northeastern Field Hockey Opens CAA Tournament Against Top-Seeded Fairfield

BOSTON -- The Northeastern field hockey team opens the 2026 CAA Field Hockey Championship on Wednesday, Nov. 4, taking on No. 1 seed Fairfield at noon at Drexel's Buckley Field in Philadelphia. The Huskies earned the No. 4 seed after finishing the regular season 6-10 overall and 3-3 in CAA play. The winner of Wednesday's match will face either No. 2 seed Monmouth or No. 3 seed Drexel on Friday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. All CAA Tournament games will stream live on FloCollege.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. REMATCH WITH THE STAGS: Northeastern will look to avenge a 3-1 loss to Fairfield on Oct. 16 in the teams' regular-season meeting. Phoebe Hall scored the Huskies' lone goal, with assists from Lucy Walton and Amelia Albers, but the Stags scored twice in the second half to secure the win. Fairfield finished the season tied with Drexel and Monmouth atop the CAA standings at 5-1, earning the No. 1 seed via the conference's tiebreaker. The Stags are competing in their first season as members of the CAA.
  2. BACK IN THE TOURNEY: The Huskies are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the CAA Tournament and will look to earn their first tournament win since 2019. Northeastern defeated William & Mary 1-0 in the semifinals that season before falling to Delaware in the championship game. In its last tourney appearance, Northeastern got two late goals to cut into the deficit, but ultimately fell to the Drexel Dragons by a score of 3-2.
  3. LAST TIME OUT: Northeastern battled back in its regular-season finale against Monmouth on Oct. 30, rallying from an early deficit to take the lead against the Hawks, who earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Monmouth responded to force overtime and secured the 3-2 victory with a walk-off goal. The Huskies will look to carry the fight they showed in the finale into Wednesday's win-or-go-home matchup with the top-seeded Stags.
