BOSTON — The Northeastern track and field team is spread out across Boston this weekend, taking on two meets across Friday and Saturday, the last meets before the CAA Championships. The Huskies will be competing in the BU Valentine Invitational, held at the BU Track and Tennis Center as well as at the Harvard Crimson Open held at the Gordon Indoor Track. The Invitational will be streamed on FloTrack and the Open will be available on ESPN+
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. SMASHING SCHOOL RECORDS – The Huskies continue to rewrite the record book this indoor season, adding another mark at the River Hawk Invitational. Junior
Brunner Williams set a new school record in the 200m, crossing the line in 21.13. Williams, along with 13 of his teammates, secured spots on Northeastern's all-time performance list during last weekend's competition. Additional highlights included sophomore
Taeshawn Berry placing seventh in the 200m and eighth in the 60m, while the women's DMR relay team of
Waverly Hassman,
Abigail Thomas,
Stephanie Kriss and Lola Satre-Morales moved into fourth place all-time.
2. READING THE RANKS – Looking at the regional rankings, both the Northeastern men's and women's teams sit in ninth place, with the men jumping up five spots. Individually, two athletes and one relay team remain in the top 50 of their respective events. Freshman
Iolo Grant ranks 39th in the 60m hurdles, while junior
Camryn Cole is 16th in the high jump. Most recently, the DMR relay team of Hassman, Thomas, Kriss and Satre-Morales moved into 37th place.
3. BE MY RUNNING-MATE? — Northeastern returns to the BU Track and Tennis Center to compete in the Valentine Invitational, while also traveling to the Gordon Indoor Track for the Crimson Open on Feb. 13 and Valentine's Day. At last year's Valentine Invitational, Ben Godish broke his own school record in the men's 3000m. The meet also saw continued success, with nine Huskies recording personal best performances.
