Huskies Head To River Hawk Invite, ECAC/IC4A Championships

BOSTON – The Northeastern track and field team continues its indoor season this weekend with the River Hark Invite, held at the Track at New Balance on Feb. 6 and 7, and the ECAC/IC4A Championships, held at the BU Track and Tennis Center from Feb. 7 to Feb. 8. 


THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. TWO HUSKIES, TWO HISTORIC MARKS -  The Huskies continued to add new marks to the all-time list this week, with two athletes earning spots from last weekend's meets. Freshman Iolo Grant bettered his second place all-time spot in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.77, while junior Katie Rodriguez tied for sixth in the pole vault after clearing 3.80 meters. So far this season, there has been eight men's new all-time and fourteen for the women.
  2. LAST TIME AT ECAC/IC4A — Northeastern opened last years meet with a series of standout preliminary performances and personal bests, including Conall Rogers' victory in the men's 800m, Hope Belvit's win in the women's weight throw, and Azza Borovicka-Swanson's personal-best triumph in the women's 5000m. On the final day, the Huskies secured multiple podium finishes, highlighted by a win in the men's 4x800 relay and top-three performances from Johnny Emmanuel, Morgan Hayward, Lucy Abdow and the women's distance medley relay. Additional finalists and scorers across track and field rounded out the weekend, including Knight, Robinson and Pantazopoulos, as Northeastern compiled a deep slate of top finishes and all-time marks.
  3. BACK TO THE RIVER — Last season at the River Hawk Invite, Elena Olson's personal-best fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles, along with strong performances from Lauren Trejo, Ariann Robinson and Morgan Hayward, highlighted Northeastern's efforts on the women's track, capped by a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay. On the men's side, Johnny Emmanuel placed third in the 400m invitational and Taeshawn Berry added a seventh-place finish in the 200m. Distance events featured solid showings from Alanna Hagen, Natasha Sortland and Cian Gara Grady, as several underclassmen opened their indoor seasons with promising marks. In the field events, Mia Belanger led the way with a third-place finish in the high jump, while top performances from Leila Curtis, Madeleine Duchaussee, Nicholas Pisciotta, Tremain Robinson, Athanasios Pantazopoulos and Ohan Ambartsoumian rounded out the meet.
