STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook (15-10, 7-5) used a 20-3 run midway through the first half to seize control of the game and never look back against the Northeastern men's basketball team (6-17, 2-10), topping the Huskies on Saturday afternoon at Stony Brook Arena, 69-55.

The Huskies struggled to find a rhythm offensively in the contest, finishing 19-of-57 from the field and 6-of-24 from three-point range led by 17 points from
Mike Loughnane. He was joined in double figures by
JB Frankel (11 points).

Stony Brook, meanwhile, bounced back from 38% shooting in the first half to go 15-of-26 (58%) in the second half to finish 48% from the floor while turning 12 Northeastern turnovers into 20 points. Erik Pratt led three Seawolves in double figures with 13 points.

Offense was at a premium in the first half, with the teams combining to go 3-of-25 from the floor in the first 10 minutes before Stony Brook got it going late to take a 29-19 lead into halftime. Frankel (9) and Loughnane (8) combined for 17 of Northeastern's 19 first half points as the Huskies went 7-of-26 overall and 4-of-13 from three in the opening 20 minutes.

A 16-1 Seawolves run over nearly four minutes gave the hosts control of the contest, led by seven points from Tomas Valentiny in the first for an SBU squad that shot 38% overall and 29% from deep.

Stony Brook maintained its double-digit lead throughout the second half thanks to a 58% shooting performance and nine points apiece from Pratt and Richard Goods, while the Huskies went 12-of-31 from the floor and got another nine points from Loughnane.

The Huskies will return home to the Cabot Center for three straight games, beginning on Thursday against William & Mary. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on NESN and FloCollege.
