BOSTON -- Northeastern University baseball (5-7, 2-1 CAA) faces a four-game slate this week, beginning with a midweek trip to Central Connecticut State (4-2) on Wednesday, March 11th at 3 p.m. in New Britain, Connecticut. The Huskies then return to Brookline for the first home games of the 2026 season, hosting CAA North Division rival Towson (5-7, 0-3 CAA) in a three-game series at Friedman Diamond beginning Friday, March 13th at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's games are set for 1 p.m. All three home games will be streamed on FloCollege.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. GRIFFIN NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK Senior right-hander Ryan Griffin was named CAA Pitcher of the Week on Monday after going 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA across two appearances last week. Making his first career start at #2 LSU, Griffin limited the defending national champions to one earned run on four hits over 5.1 innings as the Huskies earned the highest-ranked victory in school history, 13-10. He returned to the mound in the resumption of a halted game at Stony Brook on Sunday, retiring all six batters he faced with two strikeouts as Northeastern edged the Seawolves, 4-3, in 13 innings. The North Andover, Mass. native is the first Husky to earn CAA Pitcher of the Week honors in 2026.
2. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS Wednesday's trip to New Britain marks a non-conference midweek matchup with Central Connecticut State, the defending NEC Tournament Champions who were picked as NEC preseason favorites again this season. The Blue Devils went 31-17 in 2025 and made their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance. CCSU opened the 2026 campaign with a doubleheader split at Florida A&M and have since swept through NEC play at home, rallying from a five-run deficit to down UMES 11-7 on Saturday and cruising 6-1 on Sunday to move to 3-2 on the year. The weekend series against Towson marks the opening of a lengthy homestand, with nine out of the next 10 games for the Huskies at Friedman Diamond. The Tigers enter the week at 5-7 overall and 0-3 in CAA play after being swept at home by Monmouth in the opening weekend of conference play. Towson split its opening series at Norfolk State and picked up a midweek road win at George Mason earlier this season.
3. LAST TIME OUT Northeastern posted a 3-1 record last week, highlighted by the program-defining 13-10 victory over #2 LSU at Alex Box Stadium on Monday night. The Huskies erupted for 10 runs across the second and third innings to build a commanding lead and held off multiple late Tiger rallies. Every player in the lineup recorded at least one hit, with Harrison Feinberg finishing 3-for-6 with three RBI and Chris Walsh driving in four, including a three-run home run. The Huskies then opened CAA play at Stony Brook with a 4-0 shutout on Friday behind a strong pitching effort, followed by a 4-3, 13-inning thriller on Saturday that was suspended due to darkness and completed Sunday morning. Stony Brook took the series finale, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon.
