Northeastern Travels To No. 15 UMass In Hockey East Quarterfinals

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team and UMass meet this Saturday, March 14, as the seventh-seeded Huskies travel to Mullins Center to take on the No. 15 and second-seeded Minutemen in the Hockey East Tournament quarterfinals — puck drop is 4 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. TAKE FIVE: The two programs split their first four meetings this season, with the series tied 2-2 overall and Northeastern holding a 2-1 edge in Hockey East play. Assistant captain Dylan Hryckowian leads all active Huskies with nine points (4g, 5a) against UMass, followed by captain Vinny Borgesi with six points (2g, 4a). Sophomore Joe Connor (1g, 2a) and freshman Amine Hajibi (3a) have each added three points against the Minutemen, with seven other active skaters tallying at least one career point in the series.
  2. OWNED THE OPENING ROUNDNortheastern advanced past tenth-seeded New Hampshire, 7-3, in the Hockey East Tournament opening round Wednesday at Conte Forum, getting goals from seven different scorers. Freshmen Jacob Mathieu and Amine Hajibi led the way with three points apiece as netminder Lawton Zacher turned aside 24 shots to earn his first Hockey East Tournament win.
  3. RAISING THE BARSeveral Huskies have surpassed their career-high point totals in 2025-26. Sophomore Jack Henry has tallied six points (1G, 5A) to go along with 27 blocked shots. Junior Eli Sebastian has put up eight points (3G, 5A) while winning 157 faceoffs on the year. He capped the regular season by scoring in back-to-back games as the Huskies swept UMass Lowell on the road in late February — the first two-goal weekend of his career.
