BOSTON – The Northeastern University baseball team (12-9) continues a busy stretch this week with a pair of midweek non-conference games, hosting Boston College (16-8) on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Friedman Diamond before traveling to Lowell on Wednesday to face UMass Lowell (8-11) at 4 p.m. at LeLacheur Park. Tuesday's home contest will be broadcast on NESN+ and will stream on FloCollege
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. SERIES STREAK: Despite suffering a rare home CAA loss on Saturday — a 2-3 defeat to Elon — the Huskies took the series with a pair of run-rule victories, winning Friday's opener 17-5 in seven innings and Sunday's finale 17-7 in eight. The series win extended Northeastern's streak to 13 consecutive CAA series victories. Harrison Feinberg was the offensive catalyst in the opener, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and four RBI, while Robbie O'Connor earned his fourth win on the mound. In Sunday's rubber match, Ryan Gerety went 3-for-5 with three runs and Carmelo Musacchia launched a home run and drove in three as the Huskies pounded out 14 hits and tallied six doubles and two triples en route to a season-high 27 total bases.
2. RUNNIN' HUSKIES: Northeastern continues to be one of the most aggressive baserunning teams in the country. The Huskies now sit at 88 stolen bases on the season, third in the nation behind only VMI (118) and Duke (103). Carmelo Musacchia remains the ringleader with a team-high 19 steals on 20 attempts, while Harrison Feinberg has swiped 13 and Ryan Gerety has added nine. The Huskies stole at least four bags in each game of the Elon series, and a season-high 11 on 15 attempts at Brown during the midweek slate. Northeastern is averaging over four steals per game.
3. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Boston College comes to Brookline riding a hot streak, having won five straight including a three-game sweep of Cal and a midweek win over Sacred Heart. The Eagles own a series win at #24 Miami and took a game from #10 NC State in Raleigh. Sophomore Nick Wang has been the engine of the BC offense with nine home runs on the year, including a three-homer, eight-RBI performance in a 26-19 win at UConn. Tuesday marks the first meeting between the two programs since Northeastern hosted BC at Friedman Diamond in 2025. On Wednesday, the Huskies travel up Route 3 to face UMass Lowell, which went 6-3 on a California road swing through San Francisco, Sacramento State, and Pepperdine before dropping its opening America East series at Binghamton, 1-2. Graduate student Nicholas Solorzano leads the River Hawks with a .375 batting average, while freshman Cal Chance has been a spark plug, tying the program's Division I record with five hits in a single game at Pepperdine. NU's two midweek opponents faced off last Wednesday, March 18th in Brighton, where BC took a home 12-2 run-rule victory over Lowell in eight innings.
