BOSTON -- The Northeastern University baseball team (31-18, 20-7 CAA) hits the road for a four-game week, beginning with a non-conference midweek trip to UConn (30-22) on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:05 p.m., streaming on UConnHuskies.com. The Huskies then travel to Towson (20-30, 8-19 CAA) for a three-game CAA series, with games on Thursday, May 14th at 3 p.m., Friday, May 15th at 3 p.m., and Saturday, May 16th at 2 p.m., all streaming on FloCollege.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. LAST TIME OUT: Northeastern capped its regular season home schedule with a three-game sweep of Stony Brook at Friedman Diamond this past weekend, outscoring the Seawolves 34-7 across the series. Robbie O'Connor set the tone in Friday's 12-3 opener to improve to 8-1 on the season, but Saturday belonged to the offense — the Huskies exploded for 15 runs in a seven-inning rout, with Ryan Gerety driving in four runs on a home run and two singles, Harrison Feinberg matching him with four RBI of his own, and Matt Brinker adding three more. Luc Rising was dominant on the mound, twirling a six-inning shutout en route to CAA Pitcher of the Week honors. Sunday's 7-4 finale was a test of resiliency — Stony Brook struck first with a run in the top of the first, but Northeastern answered immediately with three in the bottom half. Every time the Seawolves clawed back within a run, the Huskies had a response, with Cooper Maher earning the win and Andrew Wertz recording his fourth save to complete the sweep. The three wins pushed Northeastern to 20-7 in conference play and within one game of clinching the top seed in the CAA North Division heading into the final weekend of regular season play at Towson.
2. RUNNING WILD: Northeastern's baserunning has reached historic levels in 2026. The Huskies lead the nation in stolen bases with 191 on the season, and two players are rewriting the program record books. Harrison Feinberg has set a new single-season program record with 39 stolen bases — adding to a monster campaign in which the redshirt senior is slashing .349/.458/.646 with 15 home runs and 60 RBI. Carmelo Musacchia is right there alongside him, with 36 steals this season and 89 for his career, tying the all-time program record. The duo has combined for 75 stolen bases this year alone, spearheading an offense that has kept opponents on their heels all season long.
3. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Tuesday's trip to Storrs is a rematch of a March 31st meeting between the two programs, a game won by UConn, 21-5, in a non-conference clash. Jim Penders' Huskies enter the week at 30-22 and will be looking to close out the regular season strong, while Northeastern will be hunting for a better result in the return game. The weekend series at Towson carries significant CAA implications as the Huskies look to lock up the North Division's top seed. Northeastern swept the Tigers in their first meeting this season, a three-game home series in mid-March, winning 6-3, 3-1, and 3-2 in a trio of tight ballgames.
