WORCESTER, Mass. — Northeastern pulled within one goal in the final two minutes, but the field hockey team (0-3) came up short in a 3-2 loss to Holy Cross (2-1) on Friday evening at Hart Turf Field.
- Holy Cross opened the scoring in the first quarter on a goal from Carolina di Gregorio Giralt, assisted by Marianna Maclean.
- Amelia Albers tied it at 17:40 in the second quarter, scoring the first goal of her Husky career off an assist from Alex Mega, who picked up her first assist of the season.
- Holy Cross answered in the second and third quarters, with goals from Martina Di Gregorio and Marianna Maclean, to build a 3-1 lead.
- Northeastern kept pushing in the fourth quarter and got within a goal at 58:09, when Juana Gonzalez-Peyru scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Izzy Johnson, who picked up her first career point.
- The Huskies couldn't find an equalizer in the final two minutes, and Holy Cross closed out the win, 3-2.
Northeastern returns home to Dedham Field on Friday, Sept. 11, at 5 p.m., to host UC Davis.
