BOSTON, MA - The Husky varsity improved its 2001 record to 1-2 by easing past Dartmouth 6:39.7 to 6:49.2 on the Charles River on April 7. It was the fastest performance ever in an NU-Dartmouth matchup, besting the mark of 6:47.9 set in 1999. The Huskies jumped out to an early 3/4 length lead after 500 meters and had an edge of 1 1/4 lengths at the 1000 mark. By the 1500-meter mark, NU was well ahead, by three lengths, and cruised to the win. The second varsity lost to the Big Green 6:57.2 to 7:04.0. The novice also was defeated 6:54.4 to 7:05.0.
