In the second game of a doubleheader to open the season, Northeastern rocked Bradley starter Collin Walker with three straight singles and a three-run home run by Jeff Heriot to jump ahead 4-0 in the top of the second inning. But the Braves rallied with nine unanswered runs to record a 9-4 win and a sweep of the doubleheader.
After giving up a fifth consecutive hit, a single by Matt Morizio in the second, Walker settled down and allowed only one more hit and a walk until giving way to reliever Mike Means to start the seventh. In the meantime, Bradley immediately evened the score against NU starer Jordan Thomson in the bottom half of the second. Brad Canada opened the Bradley half of the second with a double to left center. After Jason Morelock singled and Brian Meischner was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Brian LaJeone halved the score with a two-run single. Rene Aqueron followed with a sacrifice fly, then after LaJeone stole second, Steve Strickler delivered the tying run with a base hit.
LaJeone plated the game-winning run off Thomson in the fourth inning by following Meischner's single to right with Bradley's first triple of the season. He then scored an insurance run on an Aqueron squeeze bunt for a 6-4 lead. The Braves completed the scoring in the fifth inning with three more runs off NU reliever Jim Madison, capped by another RBI single by LaJeone, who finished the game 3-3 with four runs batted in.
Paul Kozlowski was 2-3 with a run scored in his Husky debut, making the start at first base.
