Albany took the second half of a doubleheader with the Huskies, 6-3, and won the season series 3-1 over NU. With the loss, the Huskies fall to 6-11 overall and 1-3 in America East action.
Albany jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first off NU starter Brendan Ryan, as Dan Schoonmaker hit a two-out single to right field to drive in Tony Vallone and Jason Martin. Brendan Chiavaro's RBI single in the second added another and Joe Lamb scored on a wild pitch, one of six in the game for the Huskies, for a 4-0 advantage.
Northeastern cut a 5-0 deficit to two with one run in the fourth and a pair in the fifth. Albany starter Kyle Thomas, who went five innings and allowed three runs, mishandled a throw at first which allowed Tim Bush to score. Bush had doubled with one out. Omar Pena and Paul Koslowski, who both went 2-3, each drove in a run in the fifth to make the score 5-3, but the Huskies would get no closer.
Albany tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth to complete the scoring. Ryan went three innings for the Huskies, allowing five earned runs, before giving way to Matt Piryk. Freshman Arman Sidhu added two hits for the Huskies and finished the doubleheader 5-9.
