In the bottom of the first, lead off hitter Mike Steinberg was hit with a pitch and Arman Sidhu walked, putting men on first and second with no outs. Chris Emanuele came to the plate and ripped a single down the left field line that scored Steinberg. After Tim Bush flied out to center, Heriot came to the plate with two on and two out. Heriot responded hitting a single to left that scored Emanuele from second.

The Huskies struck for three runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Arman Sidhu hit a sac-fly that scored Matt Morizio for the first run. Paul Koslowski singled in Eric Murray for the second run. Heriot finished it off with his second RBI-single of the day, scoring Mike Steinberg on an infield-hit with the bases loaded. That made the score 6-1. The Huskies scored an insurance run in the eighth.

Freshman Mitch Duggins got the start for his first collegiate appearance. He struck out two batters and walked two in the first inning. With men on first and second and two outs, UNO's Lee Kramolisch hit a single to left field. Josh Shirk tried to score from second but left fielder Brad Czarnowski threw a strike to Morizio to gun him down at the plate. He pitched three and one-third innings, allowing a run on two hits with five strikeouts.

Jim Madison came on in relief in the fourth inning. In the fifth, Madison struck out the side. The bases were loaded with one out and Madison struck out the last two batters looking. He continued through the eighth inning, shutting out UNO on four hits and four punchouts. Matt Piryk pitched a perfect ninth inning to finish off the game.

NU takes on the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at 7 p.m. at City of Palms Park. The game will be televised live on NESN.
