The Huskies beat Hartford 9-8 in 12 innings to complete the three-game sweep of the Hawks on Saturday at Muzzy Field in Bristol, Conn. NU swept a doubleheader with 2-0 and 16-1 wins on Saturday.
The Huskies had an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh but gave up five runs in the bottom of the seventh, and allowed Hartford to tie it at 8-8 with two runs in the bottom of the ninth. But Tim Bush kept the Huskies in it with 3-1/3 scoreless innings of relief.
In the top of the 12th inning, Mike Steinberg hit a double that scored Eric Murray from first for the winning run. Bush got the Hawks in order in the bottom of the inning to solidify the victory.
Bush earned the win to improve to 1-0 this season. Devin Monds made the start and allowed four runs over six innings. Matt Morizio went 2-5 with a homer and five RBI. Jeff Maher went 3-5 at the plate and scored two runs.
NU improves to 27-15 overall and 13-4 in America East with the win. Hartford falls to 10-31 and 4-14.
