The Northeastern baseball team left 13 men on base and was shut down by four Albany pitchers as the Huskies fell to the Great Danes, 3-1, in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at Varsity Field in Albany, N.Y.
The Huskies had defeated the Great Danes in the first game, 3-2.
Senior Devin Monds (1-3), coming off a one-hitter against Hartford, did not exhibit the same control he had last week, allowing four hits and walking six batters in 4-2/3 innings.
In the third, Monds gave up a two-run homer to Steve Wyland, and then an RBI single to Joe Lamb in the fourth.
Albany (9-10, 2-3 America East) received five innings from starter Ethan Vaiana (3-0), who limited the Huskies (11-15, 4-1 America East) to one run on seven hits.
NU scored its lone run in the third inning when junior Chris Emanuele singled, stole second and crossed the plate on senior Jeff Heriot's RBI single.
The Huskies' best chance at a big inning came in the fourth inning as they had the bases loaded, but Heriot went down swinging to end the inning.
Northeastern will look to win the series tomorrow at 12 p.m.
