In a battle between Boston schools, Boston College jumped out to a 5-0 lead after just two innings and didn't look back, defeating the Northeastern baseball team 10-1 Wednesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
The Huskies (6-7) scored their lone run in the fourth inning when sophomore Josh Porter hit a sacrifice fly to score senior Matt Morizio, who had doubled to open the inning. Morizio went 2-4 on the day, the lone Husky to record multiple hits.
The Eagles (10-10) put a five-spot on the board in the second inning off of Huskies starter Bobby Carrington (0-2). BC second baseman Ryan Hutchinson had the big blow, hitting a two-run single to right that brought home Pete Frates and Ryan Akel.
Akel homered one inning later, giving BC a 6-0 lead.
Carrington struggled early, but finished strong, allowing just one walk and one infield single in his final two innings. He pitched five innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on seven hits. He walked four while striking out six.
Ted Ratliff (1-0) limited the Huskies to just one run in 5-1/3 innings. He gave up five hits, walked one and struck out six.
The Huskies resume CAA play this weekend at Delaware. Games are scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Junior Adam Ottavino will get the start on the mound for NU on Friday.
