The Northeastern baseball team finally got its game with Boston College in after two straight days of postponements, but the Eagles jumped out to a 7-2 lead and held on to beat the Huskies 7-4 Thursday afternoon at Shea Field in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
NU (12-10) opened the game on a strong note as freshman Mike Tamsin homered off of Ted Ratliff in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
However, the Eagles (16-12-1) put one run up in the second inning, three in the third and one in the fourth to take a commanding 5-1 lead.
NU added a run in the fifth when freshman James Donaldson drew a bases-loaded walk, but the Eagles came right back with two in the bottom of the inning, including a solo homer by Jett Ruiz.
Northeastern scored two runs in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by senior Jeff Maher and an RBI double by Arman Sidhu, but that was as close as the team got.
Sophomore Bobby Carrington (0-4) took the loss after pitching five innings and allowing seven runs. Sophomore Mitch Duggins pitched the final three innings for NU and didn't allow a baserunner.
Ratliff (2-0) earned the win after tossing six innings and allowing four runs on five hits.
The Huskies will return to CAA play when they host James Madison tomorrow at Friedman Diamond at 3 p.m. Junior Adam Ottavino gets the start for Northeastern.
