Huskies shut out Western Michigan, 5-0

Shortstop and senior captain Mike Lyon continued to be an offensive force for the Huskies, as he broke a scoreless tie with his fourth home run of the year in the top of the fourth. He finished the game 3-5 with a double, homer, three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Husky offensive attack. Center fielder Frank Compagnone and senior captain Josh Porter each added three hits and an RBI in the game as well.
McDonald improved to 2-0 on the season with the victory. Freshman Les Williams came into pitch the bottom of the ninth for the Huskies. After facing a bases-loaded, no-out situation, Williams recorded a strikeout and induced a ground ball from Western Michigan shortstop Grant Simotes for the game-ending double-play.
Northeastern improved to 4-2 with the victory while Western Michigan dropped to 6-2. The two teams will be back in action on Thursday at 1 p.m. at IMG Academies. Sophomore Charly Bashara takes the ball for the Huskies.
