The Northeastern University baseball team was shut out for the second game in a row, losing 13-0 to Old Dominion at the Bud Metheny Complex in Norfolk, Va. Saturday afternoon. Tremendous pitching once again guided the Monarchs to the win, this time by reigning All-CAA pitcher Dan Husdson. Hudson held the Huskies scoreless over 7-2/3 innings, allowing just five hits and striking out 11.
Les Williams started the game for the Huskies and put up a strong effort, allowing seven hits, two runs and no walks, while striking out six. The Monarchs blew the game open in the seventh and eighth innings as Husky relievers Dan Zehr and Charly Bashara struggled.
Mike Tamsin and David Gustafson each had two hits apiece for the Huskies. Gustafson and Ryan Maguire each had a double in the game to give NU its first two extra-base hits of the series.
Northeastern dropped to 16-19-1 overall and 7-12-1in the CAA with the loss, while Old Dominion improved to 20-21 overall and 11-10 in the conference. The Huskies will try to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. as Ryan Quigley takes the mound for NU.
