Northeastern's late rally fell short, as Boston College defeated the Huskies, 80-67, Thursday night at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Huskies conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 5-6 record, while the Eagles move to 12-1 on the season.

Kashaia Cannon led the Huskies with 22 points while sophomore
Christine Huber grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Huber also added four points and four blocks in 24 minutes of action.

Jamie Conroy scored a season-high 18 points while sophomore
Afreyea Tolbert also scored in double-digits with 16 points. The guard pulled down six rebounds and committed two steals.
Four players scored in double-figures for the Eagles with senior Carolyn Swords leading the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Stefanie Murphy added a double-double of her own with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jaclyn Thoman scored 11 points and Kerri Shields added 10 for BC.
Swords scored first for the Eagles with a layup before Cannon got the Huskies on the board with a three-pointer from the wing. Two consecutive three-point field goals from the Eagles put BC on top 10-5 and another layup from Swords forced the Huskies into a timeout at 16:48, trailing 12-5. A pair of free throws from Swords extended the Eagles's run but a layup from Cannon put Northeastern back on the board just before the media timeout at 15:59.
BC scored the first two baskets out of the break but Conroy nailed a three from the top of the arc to bring Northeastern within eight at 18-10.
Deanna Kerkhof then put the Huskies within six with a layup, but the Eagles repsonded on theirt next possession with a three from Shields.
Cannon's jumper put the Huskies within nine, 27-18, with just over eight minutes to play in the half. Cannon then drilled a three off a dish from
Tiffany Crews. Swords posted two consecutive baskets then converted on her opportunity from the foul line to ignite an 10-0 BC run heading into a timeout with 3:18 left on the clock.
Jewel Tunstull's layup at 1:25 got the Huskies back on the board, but the Eagles ended the half with a 4-2 run sending the teams to the locker room with BC holding a 41-25 advantage.
Conroy scored first in second half with a layup on Northeastern's opening possession but the Eagles took it down the court and responded with a layup of their own, which was followed by the first of two three-pointers from Murphy from the top of the arc.
Conroy poured in a three-pointer of her own and Cannon posted a layup on the Huskies' next possession, making it 51-34 BC at the first timeout on the floor at 15:46. Tolbert converted on two chances from the charity stripe following the break.
The Eagle's held a 63-44 lead with under 10 minutes to play. Cannon sunk a jumper from the top of the key and Northeastern then went to its full court press in attempt to trouble the Eagles. Cannon knocked down a three and an Eagles' turnover on their next possession gave the Huskies' the ball back before a timeout was called on the floor. Tolbert drove to the hoop during the Huskies' possession after the break but was fouled and sent to the line. The sophomore was unable to capitalize on either opportunity.
A Conroy jumper was followed by a Northeastern steal, giving the Huskies' another opportunity. Tolbert drove to the basket and cut the Eagles' lead to 12, 65-53, with under six minutes remaining in the contest. Kerkhof poured in a three-pointer from the left wing to extend the Huskies' run and bring Northeastern within single digits, at 65-56. Shields then sunk a pair of free throws to push the Eagles' lead back out to 11, but Tolbert's layup put Northeastern back within nine. The teams traded a pair of fastbreak layups before the last timeout called on the floor with 3:34 remaining in the game.
BC held a 72-62 lead when Cannon hit a jumper while drawing a foul and then connected on her extra opportunity to bring the Huskies within seven. Two consecutive layups from the Eagles' pushed their lead back out to double-digits with a minute and a half left to play. Two free throws from BC's Thoman pushed the Eagles' lead to 78-65 but Conroy responded with a basket on the Huskies' next possession to make it an 11-point game.
Two final free throws from Swords gave BC an 80-67 victory.
Northeastern shot 37.7 percent from the field compared to BC's 39.2 percent mark. The Eagles' outrebounded the Huskies, 47-45, and forced Northeastern into 16 turnovers, leading to 15 points for BC.
Northeastern begins conference play this weekend when the Huskies travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to face CAA foe James Madison. Game time is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2.
