In all four fixtures against Boston University this season, one goal separated the victor from the loser. In Saturday night's finale at Matthews Arena, the Terriers dashed Northeastern's playoff hopes following the same pattern, 4-3, on Senior Night.

Senior Kyle Kraemer registered a pair of powerplay goals in his farewell to hockey's oldest cathedral while junior Wade MacLeod (1-1-2) and freshmen Jake Newton (0-2-2) and Garrett Vermeersch (0-2-2) all contributed a pair of points in the Huskies final tilt of the season.

Boston University hounded freshman netminder Chris Rawlings all night long, posting 42 shots to the Huskies' 24 attempts. Rawlings made 38 saves and finished the season with a winning record of 15-14-2. BU's Kieran Millan stopped 21 shots to for his 14th win of the season.

MacLeod brought the crowd to its feet within a few moments of the first puck drop. Vermeersch gathered a Terriers' rebound and chipped it out to MacLeod in Northeastern's zone right off the get-go. MacLeod skated through the zone, maneuvered through two Terriers in the slot and flung it past Millan with the strong wrister for the 1-0 lead at 1:38 of the first period.

Boston University responded on the powerplay after Kraemer was hauled off for slashing at 7:54. Nick Bonino accepted a pass from Chris Connolly in transition and tipped it by Rawlings at 9:37 to lock it back up, 1-1.

Northeastern answered with a powerplay marker of its own thanks to a Kraemer wrister at 13:21. After Eric Gryba was cited for contact to the head elbowing at 12:44 and on NU's next possession, Newton sent a cross-ice pass over to Kraemer on the left dot. Kraemer skated in and beat Millan glove side from the right dot to recoup the lead, 2-1.

Zach Cohen leveled the score once again at 7:09 of the second period on a chip shot in front of Rawlings. Vinny Saponari fed the puck in from the top of the zone and Z. Cohen was able fool Rawlings on a low rip to knot it back at 2-2.

Rawlings turned in a superb second session as Boston University outshot Northeastern, 16-3, in the second period.

Boston University snagged its first lead of the game right out of the chute in the third period. David Warsofsky worked it off the boards to Connolly on the blue line. Connolly quickly shifted the puck to Alex Chiasson in the left circle for the one-timer at 1:25 for the 3-2 edge.

The Huskies locked it up for the third time with their second powerplay blast of the game after Ryan Santana was whistled for tripping at 3:46. Immediately of the draw, the Huskies worked it into Terriers' territory and created room for Kraemer in the exact same spot as his first goal. Newton tapped it to MacLeod on his left who then directed it to for the lamplighter and tie score, 3-3.

At 13:32 of the third, Kevin Gilroy delivered the final dagger in Northeastern's season. Ross Gaudet won the draw and Gilroy was able to part the traffic and slip it past Rawlings for the final goal of the game, 4-3.

Zach Cohen was called for hooking at 17:17 and head coach Greg Cronin pulled Rawlings for the 6 x 4 advantage, but the Terriers penalty kill warded off NU's attack to seal the game.

The Huskies conclude their 2009-10 season with a 16-16-2 overall record and an 11-14-2 mark in Hockey East play.

• Seniors Jim Driscoll, Chris Donovan, Kyle Kraemer, Dylan Wiwchar, David Strathman and Greg Costa closed out their career at Matthews Arena tonight on Senior Night.

 • Garrett Vermeersch put together a two-game pointstreak with two assists. Vermeersch accounted for two assists four times this season and turned it a multiple-point performance on six occasions

• Kyle Kraemer registered his second two-goal game of the season, fourth of his career. Both tallies for Kraemer came on the powerplay. Kraemer's two powerplay goals marks the second time this season a Husky turned the trick. Wade MacLeod posted a pair of extra-man goals against Massachusetts on Feb. 13. Kyle Kraemer has scored six goals in his last seven games and finished with the team lead (16) this season.

• Jake Newton notched a two-game pointstreak and tallied consecutive mutli-point games with two goals last night and a pair of assists tonight.

• Wade MacLeod's goal and assist tonight marked his 10th multi-point outing of the season and 24th in his career.
