Results

Senior Brittany Moriarty destroyed Northeastern's 5,000-meter indoor school record by over 20 seconds at the 2010 ECAC Indoor Championship with a time of 17:01.13 in her last race as a Husky.

Moriarty's mark was good for 14th place at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Andover, Mass. native also broke a 24-year old record in the mile last week, finishing her journey in 4:50.10 at the New England Indoor Championship. Moriarty ended Donna Petrsorich's 1986 record of 4:53.31.

Last year, the tri-captain also set two outdoor records in the 1,500-meter run (4:31.82) and 5,000-meter challenge (16:44.03) along with leading Northeastern at every race during the cross-country season.

Junior Althea Charles continued her torrent pace in the weight throw this season and earned eight points for Northeastern with a second-place pitch of 18.06m (59'3.00). The West Orange, N.J. native has won four weight-throwing titles this season (Jay Carisella Track & Field Invitational, Harvard Open, Battle of Beantown and the Boston Indoor Games) Sunday's performance marks her third second-place showing of the season (New England Championship and Dartmouth Relays).

Senior Consandria Walker, another tri-captain for the Huskies' track & field team, finished 16th with a mark of 11.63m in the triple jump at the ECAC Championship.

Charles provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship next week in Fayetteville, Ark., but currently ranks 0.01 meters outside of the top thirty weight throw marks in the country. Charles will learn her fate later this week if she will compete at the University of Arkansas.
