Northeastern mustered just three hits off William & Mary's Matt Davenport, falling 9-0 in game one of this weekend's series. Davenport shut down NU, throwing a complete game while striking out nine Huskies. # Matt Miller#, David Gustafson and Logan Gillis all earned singles for NU.

Starter Les Williams began strong for NU, allowing just two runs through six innings. He allowed some runners on in the seventh, however, and left the game with just an out to go in the inning. He finished with five runs allowed, although only four were earned.

Chris Carmain and Michael Murphy also pitched for NU, with neither allowing any runs. Dylan Maki didn't fare as well, allowing four runs (three earned) without recording an out.

The Huskies had their best opportunity in the seventh inning, loading the bases with two outs. Down 2-0, Gillis singled to left field. Gustafson was hit by a pitch, putting two runners on, and Jeff Dunlap, pinch-hitting for Pete Castoldi, was also hit by a pitch. Miller came to the plate with the chance to give NU some runs, but a groundout to third ended the inning.

Williams took the loss, moving him to 2-3 on the year. Davenport, with the win, takes his record to 7-2.

The Huskies take on the Tribe Saturday evening at 4 p.m. Andrew Leenhouts, who has won the conference Pitcher of the Week award in the last two weeks, will be on the mound. Live stats and a radio feed will be posted before the game.
