Radcliffe wins Rowlands Cup

The Radcliffe crew won the Rowlands Cup for the eighth consecutive year, defeating Northeastern and Boston College women's crew teams.

The Cliffies rowed the 2000 meter Charles River course in 6:36.5, beating NU's time of 6:42.0 and BC's time of 6:57.7. It was the first race of the season for all three crews.

Radcliffe took an early lead off the start, but by 500 meters, NU and Radcliffe were even. At 700 meters Radcliffe made a move and by 1000 meters, Radcliffe had a length lead and then cruised to the finish line with a length-and-a-half victory.

Radcliffe also won the second varsity and novice races, while Northeastern won the varsity 4's duel. This was the 23rd rowing of the Rowlands Cup, with Radcliffe winning 19 and Northeastern winning 4. The Huskies will race again next weekend against Dartmouth and Boston College at the Charles River.
