Corinne Henning hails from Saint Paul, Minn. and brings plenty of leadership experience to Northeastern, even as a freshman.
Henning played four years at The Culver Academy (Ind.), captaining the team in her final two seasons in 2008-09 and 2009-10. In her senior season, she notched 28 goals and 25 assists and was named Sportswoman of the Year. In her first year as captain, she led Culver to a 30-15-5 record and earned Athlete of the Month honors in December.
The 5'3 forward also played club hockey for the Little Caesars under-19 team. In 2007-08, she helped lead the team to the Michigan state championship and a runner-up finish in the national tournament.
"Corinne is a hard worked that will be counted on to push the other players around her," head coach
Dave Flint said. "Time will tell how quickly she adapts to the college game."
Besides hockey, Henning also excelled at soccer and lacrosse at Culver. She was a three-time state champion in lacrosse, and an Academic All-American in 2010. She also won Rookie of the Year in 2008. In four years on the varsity soccer club, she helped lead Culver to the state Final Four in 2009.
Henning was active away from athletics as well. She was a Gold A recipient (awarded to students with a grade point average of at least 3.7), president of the Culver Campus Activities Board and Student Faculty Forum, as well as a Relay for Life Committee member and a peer tutor. Henning joins the class of 2015 and plans to major in health sciences and become a doctor.
