The Northeastern women's track & field team had a quick final tune-up before the holiday break at the Harvard Open at Gordon Indoor Track on Saturday, Dec. 10 in non-scored event.

Junior Julia Westover attained the third-best mark in the weight throw in Northeastern indoor history on Saturday, posting a mark of 17.93m (58'10). The Lebanon, N.H. native topped Zara Northover's third-place mark of 58'4.75 set on Feb. 24, 2007. Westover's toss was one of four top-three performances.

In addition to Westover's heave, two Huskies placed as runners-up while another more captured third place as part of a dominating performance in the field for Northeastern.

Junior Jillena Decarteret offered up the first of Northeastern's second-place performances with a spring of 3.65m (11'11.75) in the pole vault. Senior captain Saleena Abdur-Rashed registered NU's lone podium performance on Saturday, motoring through the 60-meter dash in 7.81 for the runner-up position.

Sophomore Georgia Pingue and junior Julia Westover each posted third-place showings in their respective events of the triple jump and the weight throw. Pingue's combination of 11.90m (39'0.5) sewed up third place, better than 15 other competitors.

Newcomer Dana Schweiger had a strong showing in the pole vault, gaining fourth place with a mark of 3.50m (11'5.75) while sophomore Olivia Stevens finished in fifth place behind Pingue with a measure of 10.93m (35'10.5) in the triple jump.

Rookies Victoria Alexander and Jessica Dunnigan placed into the 60-meter dash final along side veteran Nia Howard. Alexander grabbed sixth (7.92) while Dunnigan and Howard finished in 12th (7.98) and 14th (8.00), in that order.

Senior Christiana Gallagher turned in a strong seventh-place march of 1:00.84 in the 400-meter dash while sophomores Chelsea Hudson and Ashlee Pitts closed out in 14th and 15th, respectively, with times if 1:01.63 and 1:01.67. Classmates Camille Henry and Meghan Underhill closed out the 400-meter dash in 22nd and 38th, in that order. Henry crossed in 1”:03.04 while Underhill's finished in 1:05.83.

Junior Rachel Taback's toss of 14.03m (46'0.5) in the weight throw was good enough for 10th place alongside Westover's big day.

Northeastern will take nearly a month long hiatus before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Roxbury Community College at NU's home, the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
