Results
The men's track & field team sent a couple constituents over to Commonwealth Ave. this weekend to take part in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University. The Huskies had eight student-athletes compete in the non-team scored event on Friday and Saturday.
Junior
Evan Whetsell and rookie
Eric Jenkins highlighted the Huskies' efforts by emerging to the top in their highly competitive fields.
Whetsell posted his best 800-meter mark of the season after turning in a time of 1:52.31 for ninth place overall. Whetsell bested 173 other student-athletes that ran in the 800m.
Jenkins topped his best time in the mile this season by over five seconds, galloping for an 11th-place time of 4:06.65. The Portsmouth, N.H. native beat out 188 other harriers in the event.
Veteran
Jonathan Hall rounded out Northeastern's top-10 efforts after a seventh-place jaunt of 1:04.54 in the 500-meter dash. Hall's clip was better than 50 others in the race.
Freshman
Andrew Snyder outlasted the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:31.35 for 32nd place while classmate
Alex Shapiro finished in 77th place in the 400-meter with a time of 50.82.
Sophomore
Nick Ryan challenged the 3,000-meter run and finished in 49th place after clocking in 8:29.82.
Luke Malley joined Whetsell in the 800-meter run and finished in 94th after posting in 1:58.78.
Northeastern takes next weekend off before diving head first into championship season. The Huskies will take part in the New England Championship on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26 in Boston.
