Mia Mayberry scored a career-high 16 points, but Northeastern was unable to take down Drexel as the Dragons earned a 61-53 victory Thursday night at Solomon Court. The Huskies fall to 8-19 (3-13 CAA) while Drexel improves to 16-11 (8-8 CAA).

Dani Iervolino tallied nine points for Northeastern, all on three-pointers, while
Christine Huber and
Jamie Conroy each netted eight points for Northeastern. Huber grabbed a team-best seven rebounds, while
Kashaia Cannonn dished out a team-high four assists.
Three players had double-digit performances for the Dragons, with Kamile Nacickaite leading the way with 15 points. Tyler Hale and Jasmina Rosseel each added 12 points for Drexel.
Drexel got on the board first with a three-pointer from Rosseel and Northeastern countered on its next possession with a three from Conroy. Nacickaite broke the tie with a jumper from the top of the key to begin a string of five unanswered points for the Dragons before Huber tallied her first points of the night for the Huskies. Drexel pushed its lead to double-digits, 17-7, with a three from Nacickaite but Iervolino quickly brought the lead back down to single-digits with a three on the other end. Then Huskies came within seven points, 19-12, with 7:16 left on the clock. Huber netted a pair free throws and
Deanna Kerkhof sunk jumper to bring Northeastern within five points with under five minutes to play in the half. The teams then traded field goals to maintain the five-point margin.
Mayberry's put-back basket brought the Huskies within three in the final two minutes of the half but Hollie Mershon put the Dragons back on top by five with a three from the top of the arc. The Dragons ended the half on a 6-0 run to send the Huskies to the locker room trailing, 29-20.
Hale drove to the basket to score the first points of the second half for the Dragons to take an 11-point lead. Hale then converted a three-point play on Drexel's next possession but the Huskies stifled a Dragon's run with a basket from Mayberry. The Dragon's took their largest lead of the evening thus far with a three from Rosseel to put Drexel ahead 39-22.
Conroy tallied the first points for Northeastern in over three minutes to spark a 6-0 run for the Huskies. Wootton got the Dragon's back on the board with a jumper in the paint and Drexel took a 45-32 lead into a timeout called on the floor with 7:55 remaining in the game.
Iervolino's three-pointer brought Drexel's advantage down to single-digits but Drexel regained a 10-point lead on its next possession. Iervolino then tallied another three to bring the margin down to seven points, 49-42, with just over four minutes left on the clock. After a Dragon field goal, Conroy hit her second three of the night to put the Huskies within six but Rosseel extended the margin with a layup on the other end. The Huskies managed to bring the deficit down to six points, 59-53, with a layup from Mayberry, but clutch free-throw shooting from the Dragons sealed Drexel's 61-53 victory.
Northeastern shot 40.6 percent from the field while Drexel registered a 52.4 percent clip. The Huskies out-rebounded the Dragons 30-27.
The Huskies will play their final home game of the season on Sunday when they battle the Panthers of Georgia State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Solomon Court. Northeastern will honor its three seniors in a ceremony prior to the game.
