The Northeastern University women's crew swept the field in all three events to win the 3rd Annual CAA Regatta Championship. The title is Northeastern's second after winning the first CAA Championship regatta in 2009.

The Huskies varsity rowed the Occoquan Reservoir course at Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax Station Virginia in 6:30.7 defeating Old Dominion (6:35.5) by a length and a half. Trailing were Buffalo (6:38.0), Drexel (6:40.9), George Mason (6:47.4), and Delaware (6:54.1).

The Huskies took a 2 seat lead over ODU at 500 with the rest of the field a length back. At 1000 they increased their lead over ODU by 6 seats and by 1500 had open water. Their victories in the 2nd Varsity and Varsity Fours earned them a team title with 36 points to Buffalo's 25 and ODU's 24.

In the post-race ceremony, head coach Joe Wilhelm was named the CAA Coach of the Year after winning his second conference title in three years. Four Northeastern rowers also earned accolades. Laura Carroll, Jennifer Forbes, Greta Haselmann, and Veronica Townsend were named to the All-Conference team.

Even with the CAA title in hand, the Northeastern women's rowing season is far from over. The Huskies will be back on the Charles River on Saturday for the 2011 Beanpot.
