The third varsity crew (3V8+) of the Northeastern women's rowing team took bronze at Sunday's EAWRC Championships on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
The 3V8+ medaled in the Grand Final, finishing third overall at the prestigious Eastern Sprints. The Huskies crossed the line in 6:49.3 ahead of Yale (6:54.2), Cornell (6:55.0), and Penn (7:06.6).
Northeastern qualified for the Grand Final after rowing to a second place finish in Heat Two with a time of 7:10.2, just behind Princeton, who took home gold in the Grand Final. In Heat Two, the Huskies outrowed crews from Radcliffe (7:16.4), Georgetown (7:25.4) and Boston College (7:53.2).
The 3V8's bronze finish is an impressive highlight for this year's overall Northeastern squad as the crew features four walk-on student-athletes. The Huskies were also the only non-Ivy League crew to make the Grand Finals in any event.
