Nine student-athletes participated in the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Friday evening at BU's Indoor Track & Tennis center and posted a pair of top-10 finishes along the way.

Junior Julia Westover continues to dominate the 20-lb. weight throw event this year after she registered a fifth-place toss of 17.53m (57'6.25). The Lebanon, N.H. native finished fourth in her flight. Classmate Rachel Taback was the runner-up in her grouping and took 11th overall in the same event after a measure of 15.44m (50'8).

First-year Husky Jessica Dunnigan notched Northeastern's other top-10 showing by springing for a mark of 5.34m (17'6.25) in the long jump. Dunnigan topped 43 other jumpers on Friday evening.

A majority of NU's competitors were represented in the 200-meter dash. Veteran Sarah Trotman was the Huskies' top finisher, crossing in 25.22 for 14th place overall. Trotman bested 154 other sprinters and won her qualifying heat. Senior Nia Howard also won her pairing with a time of 25.85, good enough for 31st overall. Freshman Monet Brathwaite collected 22nd place after dashing for a time of 25.58 while Dunnigan posted a 29th-place performance in 25.77. Senior Kamilah Rowe rounded out Northeastern's efforts in the 200-meter dash after a 99th-place spring of 27.15.

Howard also competed in the 60-meter dash and won the fourth heat with a time of 7.96. The Boston native finished 17th overall and unfortunately did not move onto the final race.

Sophomore Chelsea Hudson won her heat, as well, in the 500-meter challenge. The Lunenberg, Mass., native was awarded 13th overall after a time of 1:17.15. Senior Courtney Mortimer competed in the 1,000-meter run and finished 31st overall with a time of 3:00.96. Her time was third in her heat.

The Huskies will take next weekend off to prepare for the 2012 New England Indoor Championships at the same location on Feb. 24-25.
